The why

I always liked publishing what I was currently listening too but recently I got lazy and just had a low-effort widget that used the Spotify API. But then Spotify sent me this email:

So now my entirely hands off simple widget required me to renew a token by hand every six months. Fuck. That. Shit. So I did what any self respecting developer does, I created an overengineered replacement.
